Original Animal Watercolor Paintings (with or without ink accents) - Custom Made to Order
This is a made to order painting. This listing is for price reference and requests only. Please message me if you are interested.
Small paintings will be painted on artist grade, 100% cotton, 140lb cold press paper. (If you prefer 300lb, please convo me for pricing.) The dimensions shown are for the cut size of the paper. Available painting sizes are: 6" x 8", 7"x 10", 8.5" x 11", 9" x 12", 18" x 24", 22" x 30". All of my watercolor paintings will have a margin around the painting that can allow for framing. The shipping for the larger paintings may be more and they will need to be shipped in a tube with insurance.
This listing is for one original watercolor custom painted from a photo provided by the client. This is for a single animal painting, made to order. Additional animals may be extra depending upon the composition and detail required. The dog example, Sadie, is purely watercolor, painted on 140lb Strathmore cold pressed watercolor paper. The Sea Turtle was painted on Fabriano Artistico 140lb cold pressed (artist grade) watercolor paper. The Sea Turtle is an example of "Line and Wash" Technique with pigment ink and watercolor. More examples will be added soon. My style varies from realistic to loose and you may specify if you would prefer one or the other. (Please note, I do not paint hyper-realistic watercolors. That I reserve for colored pencil work--please see the other listing for that. Please convo me if you are interested.)
Your painting will be unframed and unmatted. Watercolors need to be framed behind glass (preferably with a mat) and displayed away from sunlight to prevent fading. They will not be sealed with spray fixative.
Shipping:
I will ship USPS. I prefer Priority Mail. If possible, I may use a shipping tube (which is safer) but then the painting will be rolled. However, stiffer surfaces will not allow that, and in which case, the painting will be sent as securely as possible. If you want a different service, please convo me before paying and I will set up a custom listing.
How it works:
I ask that anyone interested in a custom painting, send me a convo with your needs and a high resolution digital photo of the animal. You should hold the intellectual property rights to the photo. You are granting me the right to use it as a source for the artwork. All commission work must be paid for in advance. I will do a 50%/50% split for larger pieces - half before work begins and half upon completion. You will be sent a digital copy (with watermarks) to proof. If you do not approve the artwork, I will do what I can to meet your expectations. Since I do work full time and have a family, it may take 2-4 weeks for custom work to be completed. Large pieces will take longer. I may need to order the paper (1-2 weeks to receive) and then will begin work. Therefore, please plan on two months lead-time just in case. Once the painting is completed, any remaining balance must be paid before shipping. Commissions are not returnable/not refundable.
Quality Guarantee:
I use only artist grade supplies and surfaces. All paper will be artist grade and archival. I will send you a proof to approve the painting before you make the final payment.
Copyright:
Please note that I reserve the right to display copies of my work done on commission as part of my portfolio and listings. I retain copyright of the "artwork." You will receive an original work of art. I will not post any photos of any commission work on social media until after it has shipped to the client. If you prefer to keep all images private, you must convo me in advance. My work is not for the client's commercial use.
